GAC Aion UT — A New Benchmark for Space and Efficiency
The electric vehicle market is seeing a major shift with the arrival of the GAC Aion UT. Designed at the brand’s styling center in Milan and slated for high-quality production, this model is built for drivers who need a practical, high-tech, and incredibly efficient alternative for modern daily life.
About the car
The Aion UT sticks to a classic hatchback silhouette, offering a refreshing break from the SUV-heavy market. At 168 inches long, it’s a compact player perfect for tight city parking. However, its real secret is the 108-inch wheelbase. This generous measurement provides rear-seat legroom that rivals much larger sedans, making it a true standout in its class.
Design and Exterior
The car features a sleek, aerodynamic look with a “closed-off” front end that signals its electric DNA. The “friendly” headlight design gives it a unique personality on the road. The package is rounded out by 17-inch alloy wheels and four-wheel disc brakes. Every curve is optimized to reduce drag, with air intakes positioned low to keep the 62 kWh battery pack and electronics cool.
Powertrain and Performance
Under the hood, the Aion UT packs a front-mounted motor delivering 204 hp (150 kW). It’s punchy enough to handle highway merges with ease, hitting 0 to 60 mph in about 7.3 seconds. The top speed is electronically limited to 100 mph. Drivers can toggle between three driving modes—Comfort, Eco, and Sport—while also fine-tuning steering weight and brake pedal feel for a customized experience behind the wheel.
Tech and Interior
Inside, the cabin is a digital-first environment. An 8.8-inch digital cluster sits behind the wheel, while a massive 14.6-inch touchscreen controls the infotainment system. It features wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard.
Versatility highlights include:
15.5 cubic feet of trunk space with a low load floor and power liftgate.
A completely flat floor thanks to the dedicated EV platform.
Micro-perforated leather seating and a panoramic glass roof with an electric sunshade.
50W cooled wireless charging to keep your phone fast and cool.
Efficiency and Charging
The 62 kWh battery is built for the long haul, offering a city range that can exceed 370 miles in urban conditions. For fast charging, the UT supports up to 87 kW DC fast charging, taking the battery from 10% to 80% in roughly 32 minutes. At home, an 11 kW Level 2 charger can top it off in under 7 hours. A major bonus is the V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) feature, allowing you to power camping gear or electric bikes directly from the car.
