New 2027 Kia EV5 GT Production Starts Q2 2026 in Europe

The 2027 Kia EV5 GT was revealed in Europe on Jan 9, 2026 with 306 hp and 476 km WLTP range, but Kia has no official US sale, MSRP or EPA rating.

The 2027 Kia EV5 GT was officially revealed for Europe on January 9, 2026, and it is not sold in the United States. Production for the European market is scheduled for the second quarter of 2026, while Brazil only offers the single Land trim.

The EV5 is part of the first-generation lineup launched globally in 2023. It is a five-seat midsize electric SUV focused on family use. The GT is the performance version for Europe only.

In Europe, the GT uses a dual-motor powertrain with AWD. Output is 225 kW, equal to 306 hp, and 485 Nm, about 358 lb-ft of torque. The 0-100 km/h sprint is listed at 6.2 seconds and top speed is 180 km/h, or 112 mph.

Kia lists consumption at 18.6 kWh/100 km and WLTP range at 476 km, roughly 296 miles WLTP. EPA mpg, EPA range, IIHS and NHTSA ratings are not officially disclosed because the EV5 has no official US sale.

What changed for the 2027 Kia EV5 GT?

The GT adds dual-motor AWD performance to the EV5 family that debuted in 2023. It keeps the familiar SUV shape but adds more power over the standard FWD models.

The Brazil-only EV5 Land uses a single permanent-magnet synchronous motor with an 88.16 kWh LFP battery. It makes 217.5 cv, about 214 hp, and 31.6 kgf/m, about 310 Nm or 228 lb-ft. Kia Brazil lists Inmetro range at 402 km and a launch MSRP equivalent of R$ 419,990.

Global reference dimensions are 4,615 mm long, 1,875 mm wide, 1,715 mm tall, with a 2,750 mm wheelbase. In imperial that is about 181.7 in long, 73.8 in wide, 67.5 in tall, with a 108.3 in wheelbase. Cargo volume for Brazil is not officially disclosed.

What does it mean for US buyers?

US buyers cannot order the 2027 Kia EV5 GT today, with no official MSRP, EPA range or NHTSA crash rating. Kia US has not listed the EV5 on its American lineup.

If you are shopping in this segment in the US, natural rivals are the Chevrolet Equinox EV, Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Volkswagen ID.4 by size and family-focused electric SUV positioning. The EV5 GT would sit close to them in performance, but without homologation those comparisons remain conceptual.

The GT shows where Kia is taking the EV5 in Europe, focused on AWD traction and higher output. For the US market, the story stays on hold until Kia confirms any plans to bring the nameplate.

Would you pick an Equinox EV, Ioniq 5 or ID.4 over a 306-hp EV5 GT if it came to the US?
